Soil fertility and pomelo yield influenced by soil conservation practices

چکیده

Abstract Exchangeable cations and soil nutrients leach out/lost in the raised bed soils system through irrigation water rainwater. Cover crops or crop residue mulching are considered sustainable agricultural measures because they prevent degradation compaction increase ecological diversity. However, impact of these on quality fruit orchards Vietnamese Mekong Delta is not well studied. The present work aimed to assess effect cover (grass, pinto peanut) rice straw change chemical properties productivity pomelo. 3-year (2019–2021) field experiment was conducted at Phu Huu Commune, Chau Thanh District, Hau Giang Province, Vietnam. Four treatments, control (no-cover crop), grass crop, with (MRS), peanut were used. Soil samples collected from depth 0–20 20–40 cm for analyzing pH, total nitrogen (TN), phosphorus (TP), available (AP), organic matter (SOM). Results showed that MRS by significantly decreased acidity topsoil layer. fertility (TN, TP, AP, SOM) greatly improved after application mulched legume, thus improving pomelo yield. Further study required understand effects physical biological as nutrient uptake orchards.

Soil Pore Characteristics, Hydraulic Conductivity and Soil Bulk Density as Influenced by Agroforestry and Grass Buffer Conservation Practices

Despite improvements in the use of soil conservation practices, crop rotation and nutrient management programs, significant concern still exists regarding soil erosion and nutrient losses in runoff from row crop production. In the US, states are required to implement water quality standards based on USEPA guidelines or other scientifically defensible methods (Ice and Binkley, 2003). Agroforestr...

Valuing Soil Conservation Benefits of Agroforestry Practices

Although advocates of agroforestry have promoted soil conservation as one of its primary benefits, empirical estimates of these benefits have been lacking due to temporal and spatial complexity of agroforestry systems and soil resource dynamics. This study aims to reduce this gap by designing and testing a three stage farm level productivity methodology for economic evaluation of soil conservat...

Utilisation of distillery effluent in coastal sandy soil to improve soil fertility and yield of sugarcane

Coastal sandy soil is characterised by low fertility and poor physical properties. Distillery effluent, a liquid waste from the distillery industry contains large quantities of soluble organic matter and plant nutrients. It does not contain any toxic elements / compounds. In order to improve the physical properties and fertility of the coastal soil by utilising the distillery effluent, field ex...

amounts involved are much smaller. The amount of boron in the 7-ton potato crop (if determined) would have been about 0.2 pound. In the case of boron (and to a lesser degree the other micronutrients) if the soil contains excessive amounts, toxic quantities are absorbed by plants and growth is restricted. The need for a reasonable balance in amounts of available nutrients in the soil has been po...

Iron and Soil Fertility

Fertilizers that are essentially sulfurfree have been used increasingly. Ammonium nitrate, anhydrous ammonia, urea, and ammonia solutions are examples among the nitrogen carriers. The use of concentrated superphosphate and other phosphorus carriers with little sulfur has been expanding. We recommend that farmers in areas of potential deficiency should have a planned program of adding sulfur ins...
